Tribal Dragon Sweater

because I loved this dragon so much

published at 31. August 2026

I have a much narrower frame than my mom, but the sweater looks pretty good on me, too.

Work in Progress

A little peek behind the scenes.

I came across this dragon on Pinterest:

I used Photoshop to visualize the idea (dragon) with the colors I wanted to chosen...

... but in the end, it looks a little different - a bit more purple than expected.

Still, the color combination is fantastic. Especially since the little "specks" of color in the white are also found in the main color.

With some fluffy help, I worked on the pattern.

This time, I had the brilliant idea of printing the pattern directly onto

my grid paper. All I had to do was fill in the "crochet chart" by hand.

That brilliant idea turned out to be an enormous help!

Yarn chaos? Always!

When it comes to my crochet projects, yarn chaos seems to be unavoidable.

This time, too, I had more than 10 strands going at once... The finished piece

proves that it was worth every single curse I uttered along the way.

In July 2025 I started working on the crochet pattern for this sweet tribal dragon… 11 months later I finally finished it! At least it was in time for my mother's birthday in June, who selflessly offered to give the dragon a home.

I found the pattern, as usual, on Pinterest. During dinner time with my parents, I casually mentioned that there are new colors from my favorite yarn "Laflina" and that I had discovered a new cute dragon… My mother literally screamed “me!” and volunteered to give the dragon a new home in her closet – with plenty of excursions.

Since I was doing very well in the summer of 2025, I quickly brought the pattern to paper. Afterwards I digitized it before I start crocheting. I just finished the vest - a sleeveless sweater - at the end of September, exactly on time before my health got worse. It took three months to complete 90% of the work, and the remaining 10% (sleeves) took another eight months… Despite all the hardships and a massive delay, I finished the sweater and it looks gorgeous!

Papa Schlumpf

Dragon Jacket

part 3: all's well that ends well

My dragon-tastic dragon jacket is finally finished!

I'm happy and also a little bit sad, that I'm finally done with it.

Elephant Tree

my attempt at crocheting an optical illusion

Good things take time. It took about nine months from the idea to the completion of the sweater.

The effort was worth it, as the optical illusion of the elephant looks stunning even as a crocheted piece of art.

Celtic Tree Jacket

Because once was not enough

After many months of crocheting, I may present you my Celtic Tree Jacket.

This time, I did the tree in a different color as the rest of the jacket. It was not always easy to crochet - and all the threads to darn in - but it was worth every hour of work!

Keltischer Lebensbaum

Mein Meisterwerk
